On Monday 27th February, two of our ECOSA ecologists Sam and Hannah attended the Spring Careers Fair at the University of Southampton. A stand was set up (complete with ecology themed food!) to show what a career in ecological consultancy can involve, the types of skills you can learn and species you will encounter - with Sam and Hannah ready to give information and answer any questions. ECOSA's aim attending the careers fair was to engage with students and promote ecological consultancy as a career path, as well as give information on starting out in the sector.
ECOSA offers summer bat surveyor roles and work placement positions each year. Summer bat surveyors are vital to the company as they allow us to undertake additional bat surveys during the very busy survey season. Anyone can be trained up on bat surveys, so these positions are suitable for students, recent graduates, or people who have an interest in wildlife. The summer work placement is aimed at students and recent graduates who are looking to begin a career in consultancy and would like to gain some fieldwork experience, in addition to office-based skills such as data analysis and report writing.
