ECOSA Director Simon Colenutt presents RTPI Award to the City of London Corporation

29 June 2017

The City of London Corporation have won this year’s Royal Town and Planning Institute (RTPI) Award for Excellence in Planning for the Natural Environment, one of the most established and respected awards in the planning industry.

The 2017 awards campaign culminated in a ceremony on 15th June at Milton Court, London, where ECOSA Company Director Simon Colenutt took to the stage to congratulate all of this year’s finalists and the eventual winner of the category.

Praised for involving local communities and ensuring strong sustainability outcomes, the winning project involved the creation of over 60 green roofs in the City; benefitting biodiversity within a dense urban environment whilst addressing the need for flood risk and climate change mitigation.

As proud RPTI sponsors, we feel strongly about celebrating projects where ecology and the environment have been considered as an integral part of the planning process.

ECOSA seek to inform and educate planning professionals every year regarding ecological obligations in the planning process through our popular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) talks. We cover a range of essential topics, including:

  • Current ecological legislation;
  • Potential impacts of Brexit;
  • Assessment of impacts in relation to species and protected sites for nature conservation;
  • Protected species survey requirements and timescales; and
  • Mitigation and enhancement solutions in relation to development projects.

Our tailored sessions are well received and recommended by planning practices, architectural firms, construction companies and local authorities.

If you would like more information on how a CPD talk could help you achieve your development aims, please contact Samantha Munslow, Company Manager and Principal Ecologist on 02380 261065, or email info@ecosa.co.uk.
